YouTube’s native data platform that gives creators full visibility into content performance, audience behavior, traffic sources, and revenue all pulled directly from YouTube’s own infrastructure, making it the most accurate performance source available for any channel.
The Five Main Sections
Overview: a high-level snapshot of recent channel performance: views, watch time, subscribers, and estimated revenue over a selected time window.
Content: performance broken down by individual video, Short, or live stream, enabling direct comparison across content types and identifying which videos are driving or dragging overall performance.
Audience: who is watching: age, gender, geography, language, and the split between subscriber and non-subscriber views. Also shows when the audience is most active on YouTube, informing optimal publish times.
Revenue: available to YPP members only. Details ad revenue, membership and Super Chat transactions, and RPM and CPM trends over time.
Research: surfaces the actual search queries viewers used to find the channel’s videos. One of the most underused sections in the platform and one of the most valuable for content planning and keyword research.
Key Metrics
Views count how many times a video was started a surface metric on its own. High views with low watch time carry significantly less algorithmic value than moderate views with strong retention.
Watch time measures total minutes watched. It is YouTube’s primary signal for assessing content value and determining distribution breadth.
Average view duration (AVD) is the mean time a viewer spends watching before leaving indicating whether the content consistently delivers on its promise.
Average percentage viewed expresses AVD as a proportion of total video length, enabling fair comparison across videos of different lengths.
Click-through rate (CTR) measures the percentage of impressions that result in a view how effectively the thumbnail and title convert exposure into a click.
Impressions count how many times a thumbnail was shown. High impressions with low CTR point to a thumbnail or title problem. Low impressions point to a distribution problem.
